Any PC a complex machine. It could be described as a melting pot of various technologies and products, manufactured by a host of companies in many different countries. This diversity is a great advantage because it gives the PC its versatility. However, these components don't always "melt" together into a unified whole without the help technician. The different products-whether they're hard disk, modems, sound cards, or memory boards-must share one processor and one motherboard and therefor must be designed to work harmony. For this reason, configuration of the computer components is especially emphazed on the A+essential exam, and nearly one-third of the exam's question pool pertais to the objectives reviewed in this chapter
